Pakistani-American entrepreneur and the co-founder of the Malala Fund, Shiza Shahid has partnered with US singer-songwriter Selena Gomez to release the latest line of cookware.

According to details, Shiza Shahid founder of the Our Place initiative has partnered with the Only Murders in the Building star Selena Gomez to celebrate “the ways in which people from different cultures cook and share meals”.

Our Place focuses on featuring recipes from varying cultural backgrounds while making cooking “easier” and more fun with their cookware. According to their website, they “believe in the power of home cooking to bring people together.” Their designs are thoughtfully crafted and “ethically” sourced because they believe in forming connections with one another.

Collaborating with Hollywood beauty Selena Gomez, Our Place, introduced some of its pre-existing items in two new colors including their “Always Pans” and “Perfect Pots”. The colors released in partnership with Gomez include blue Azul and pink Rosa, however, the previous collection is primarily available in pastel colors.

According to the entertainment website Something Haute, the Our Place team works directly with the Los Angeles Food Policy Council to increase “access to good, healthy food”.

Shahid, who is also known as the co-founder of the Malala Fund took to Twitter to talk about her journey towards starting Our Place. Shahid wrote that growing up her mother did not teach her to cook because “She wanted my life to exist outside domesticity” but when she moved to the United States, she had to learn to cook as a “lifeline to my [her] heritage… and suddenly I [she] felt empowered by cooking”. Shahid added that by learning to do so, she “realized the joy of sharing food”.
